On June 9, 2021 "LGBT Youth Organization Deystvie" organized a presentation of the new book - "The Courage to be a Parent" in Swimming Pool, Sofia.
Despite increased attempts to disrupt LGBTI community events by unsavoury individuals, the book launch went well, including representatives of parents featured in the book.
"The Courage to Be a Parent is a collection of personal stories from parents who share their own and deeply personal encounters with discovering their children's identities. Through them, we in turn encounter the experience of what it is like to be a parent whose child is coming out as LGBTI.
The event opened with classical music, which, along with the view of Sofia at sunset, set the stage for an atmosphere in which each of the 80 attendees felt comfortable and predisposed.
During the cocktail portion, attendees had the opportunity to hear the personal stories of five of the parent characters in the book, which touched the heart of the attendees. Tears of love were shed on several occasions.
