This year, on the 17th of May, the youth LGBT group Rainbow Rays together with Youth LGBT Organization Deystvie organized a candlelight vigil for the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. The event took place under the slogan ‘Justice and Protection for All,’ because LGBTI people are still facing injustice and threats.
The event attracted dozens of people in support of the LGBTI community. The participants lit candles symbolically, in solidarity with LGBTI people who live in darkness and as a sign of respect for those who have become victim to crimes based on their sexual orientation and gender identity.
The youth group Rainbow Rays aims to establish communities of young LGBTI activists, between the ages of 14 and 29, in Sofia and around the country. The group is part of the project ‘Rainbow Rays: Youth Rainbow in Action,’ financed by the European Solidarity Corps.
