Discussion with the LGBTI community in Burgas

On 15 May in Burgas LGBT Deystvie held a discussion with members of the community, their relatives and friends.

The main focus of the meeting was the homophobic attacks that have happened in the last few years and the impressions of the participants in Burgas Pride.

Aggression can be public, sometimes it can be in the family or at school, but often we do not see the problems and do not recognize discrimination because it is disguised as state and institutional policy. Change is up to us, but to achieve it we need to know our rights.

  • WHY DO WE DO THIS?

Our goal is to create a network of community members, expert attorneys, and concerned citizens from across the country that, through the developed case recognition, reporting, and casework skills of the Law Program, will create engagement and showcase cases of LGBTI inequality and seek their resolution.

LGBT Youth Deystvie's legal program provides free legal assistance and advice to LGBTI people. We can be contacted easily through our online legal platform.

Once you register on the platform, you will be assigned a lawyer with whom you can consult and start working on your case together. As a participant in the National LGBTI Legal Program, you benefit from Deystvie's pro bono services and all we ask is your cooperation and patience.

The main goal of the National LGBTI Legal Program project is to empower the LGBTI community by providing direct access to legal protection through the National LGBTI Legal Program in the cities of Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas and Veliko Tarnovo. The filing of cases leads to official national statistics and official coverage of an existing problem, which in turn will lead to changes in legislation and improved lives for LGBTI people in Bulgaria.

The programme provides free counselling and legal assistance to LGBTI individuals, partners, families and their children who are victims of hate crimes, discrimination or other incidents with a discriminatory motive of sexual orientation or gender expression.
